Assistant Professor-Biochemistry

Academic Qualifications:

• MBBS degree from a recognized university or institution.

• MD (Biochemistry) from an NMC-recognized institution.

Key Responsibilities of Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

1. Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach MBBS and allied health science students (e.g., BSc Nursing, BPT) fundamental and clinical biochemistry.

• Assist in delivering lectures, practicals, demonstrations, and student assessments.

• Conduct tutorial sessions, quiz preparation, and help in internal evaluation.

2. Academic Support

• Develop and update teaching materials in alignment with CBME curriculum.

• Participate in student mentoring and remedial teaching.

• Maintain student performance records and academic files.

3. Laboratory Work

• Assist in managing the biochemistry practical lab and help students learn basic and clinical biochemical techniques.

• Ensure laboratory safety, cleanliness, and preparation of reagents and equipment.

• Work with faculty in hospital diagnostic labs, if applicable, for hands-on learning and reporting.

4. Research Participation

• Collaborate on departmental or institutional research projects.

• Begin developing personal research interests under mentorship.

• Present work in conferences, CMEs, and begin pursuing indexed publications for promotion.

5. Administrative Duties

• Assist HoD and senior faculty in:

  • Timetabling and curriculum planning.

  • Organizing seminars, journal clubs, and student CME activities.

  • Documentation for NMC inspections and accreditation.
