Job Description

Core Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care & Ward Management

  • In-Patient Care: Manage medical wards, overseeing the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, infectious diseases).

  • OPD Services: Conduct Out-Patient Department (OPD) clinics, providing consultation and specialized care to the general public.

  • Emergency & ICU Duty: Provide emergency medical coverage and supervise critical care management for unstable patients.

  • Procedures: Perform and teach bedside clinical procedures such as pleural tapping, lumbar puncture, and bone marrow aspiration.

2. Academic Instruction

  • Clinical Bedside Teaching: Lead "ward rounds" where students learn to take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop differential diagnoses.

  • Theory Lectures: Deliver evidence-based lectures on systemic medicine, from cardiology to nephrology.

  • Small Group Discussions: Conduct tutorials and case-based learning (CBL) sessions to bridge theory and clinical practice.

3. Research & Administration

  • Scholarly Activity: Initiate clinical research trials or epidemiological studies within the hospital setting.

  • Mentorship: Supervise Post-Graduate (MD) residents in their thesis work and clinical progress.

  • Accreditation: Assist the Head of Department (HOD) in maintaining standards for NMC (National Medical Commission) inspections and NABH/NABL accreditation.


Required Qualifications

Criteria Specification
Academic Degree MD in General Medicine or DNB from an NMC-recognized institution.
Registration Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council.
Experience Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience as a Senior Resident in a recognized medical college.
Publications At least two research publications in indexed journals as a first or corresponding author (as per current regulatory norms).
