Job Description

1. Core Objective

To lead the academic delivery of Human Physiology, fostering a deep understanding of functional bodily systems among students, while driving the department's research output and adhering to Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) standards.

 

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Academic Instruction:

    • Deliver high-level lectures on complex systems (Neurophysiology, Endocrinology, Cardiovascular, and Renal Physiology).

       

    • Supervise Hematology and Amphibian/Mammalian experiments (using simulations where live animals are restricted).

    • Implement Clinical Physiology sessions, including ECG, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), and Electromyography (EMG).

    • Coordinate Vertical and Horizontal Integration with clinical departments (e.g., correlating Cardiac Physiology with Cardiology).

       

  • Postgraduate Training & Research:

    • Serve as a PG Guide for MD Physiology students (requires 5 years of teaching experience post-MD).

    • Oversee the departmental research lab and encourage faculty/student research projects.

       

    • Ensure the department meets publication quotas for NMC inspections.

  • Administrative & Regulatory Oversight:

    • Assist the HOD in internal assessment planning and university exam conduct.

       

    • Manage the procurement and maintenance of sophisticated lab equipment (PowerLab, Treadmills, etc.).

    • Participate in Institutional Ethics Committees or Curriculum Committees.

       


3. Eligibility Criteria (NMC 2025/2026 Regulations)

Requirement Details
Academic Qualification MBBS with MD/MS in Physiology from a recognized institution.
Teaching Experience Minimum 5 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Physiology.
Research Publications Minimum 4 research publications in indexed journals (at least 2 as an Associate Professor and 2 as an Assistant Professor).
