Job Title: Consultant - ENT Surgeon / Otolaryngologist

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients experiencing diseases, injuries, or disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. The role balances busy outpatient clinics (OPD) with routine and advanced elective and emergency surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Clinical & Outpatient Care (OPD)

  • Conduct daily outpatient consultations to examine, diagnose, and treat adult and pediatric patients with acute or chronic head and neck conditions.

  • Perform diagnostic in-office procedures such as nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy, and otoscopy.

  • Manage conservative medical treatments for allergies, sinusitis, vertigo, and hearing disorders.

2. Surgical Operations (OT)

  • Perform routine and major surgical procedures, including:

    • Ears: Tympanoplasty, myringotomy (ear tubes), and mastoidectomy.

    • Nose/Sinuses: Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and septoplasty.

    • Throat/Airway: Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and tracheostomy.

    • Head & Neck: Thyroidectomy, salivary gland excision, and biopsy of neck masses.

  • Ensure absolute surgical precision and implement strict pre- and post-operative safety protocols.

3. Emergency & Inpatient Care (IPD)

  • Manage emergencies such as severe epistaxis (nosebleeds), foreign body removals from the airway/food pipe, and acute respiratory trauma.

  • Conduct regular inpatient ward rounds to track recovery, manage post-op complications, and authorize patient discharges.

4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with allied departments, including Audiology, Speech Therapy, Oncology, and Pediatrics, for integrated patient care.

  • Provide internal cross-consultations for other hospital departments when requested.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education:

    • MBBS from a recognized medical institution.

    • MS (Otorhinolaryngology) / DNB (ENT) or an equivalent post-graduate degree.

  • License: Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant State Medical Council.

  • Experience: Open to fresh post-graduates (0–3 years) for junior roles, or 5+ years for senior consultant vacancies.

  • Core Competencies: Strong surgical hand-eye coordination, diagnostic acumen, high-pressure emergency handling, and empathetic patient communication.
