Tertiary Patient Care: Diagnose and manage complex, high-risk endocrine and metabolic disorders, including difficult-to-control diabetes, advanced thyroid diseases, pituitary tumors, adrenal disorders, metabolic bone diseases (like severe osteoporosis), and reproductive endocrine issues.
Dynamic Endocrine Testing: Oversee and interpret dynamic endocrine function tests (e.g., insulin tolerance tests, dexamethasone suppression tests, water deprivation tests).
Interdisciplinary Tumor Boards: Lead or collaborate closely with Endocrine Surgery, Neurosurgery, Nuclear Medicine, and Oncology departments for the management of pituitary adenomas, thyroid cancers, and neuroendocrine tumors.
Super-Specialty Guidance: Act as a registered postgraduate and super-specialty guide/mentor for $DM$ or $DNB$ Endocrinology residents.
Curriculum Management: Oversee the department's structured teaching schedules, which include clinical bedside rounds, case presentations, grand rounds, journal clubs, and seminar monitoring.
Examiner & Evaluator Duties: Serve as an internal or external examiner for university super-specialty ($DM/DNB$) theory and practical examinations.
Research Leadership: Direct institutional clinical trials or epidemiological research projects focused on regional health challenges (e.g., metabolic syndrome, public health strategies for diabetes).
Academic Publications: Maintain high institutional standards by routinely publishing original research, case series, or meta-analyses in indexed, peer-reviewed medical journals (such as those indexed in PubMed, Medline, or Scopus) as first or corresponding author.
Administrative Oversight: Manage daily operations, including clinical rosters for junior faculty (Associate/Assistant Professors), budget planning for laboratory setups (immunoassays), and cross-department consultations.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the department meets the structural and operational criteria mandated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant authorities, covering faculty-to-student ratios, bed infrastructure, and comprehensive resident logbooks.
